The process of Converting object into a stream of bytes. This stream of bytes can be persisted. Deseralization is the reverse process. It is converting stream of bytes into object.

Seralization is generally used during remoting while transporting objects and to persist file objects and database objects.

In .net 2 ways of seralization is there : 1) XMLSerializer and 2) BinaryFormatter / SoapFormatter

SubSonic generates three classes for each table in your database:

A singular version of the table name. For example, if you have the table Products, the class will be named Product. This is a strongly-typed class representing a single row in the table. Each column in the table will be represented by a strongly-typed property of the class. Fields that accept null values are defined as nullable.
A controller (e.g. ProductController). This provides the basic CRUD (Create, Retrieve, Update and Delete) functionality. You can use the Controller class as the data source for your page using the ObjectDataSource control.

Json Built on two structures :

2. An ordered list of values called array, vector, list in language terms.

These are the universal data structures. Virtually all languages supports these structure in one form to another.

In Json following form is used:

    1. An object is an unordered set of name/value pairs. which starts with { and ends with } and each name is followed by : and the name/value pair is separated by comma.
    2. An array is an ordered set of values, which starts with [ and ends with ] and each value is separated by comma.
    3. A value can be string, int, struct, array, object and these structures can be nested.
    4. A string is a collection of zero or more Unicode characters, wrapped in double quotes, using backslash escapes. A character is represented as a single character string. A string is very much like a C or Java string.

while null is an assignment value. where variable has no value it assigns null to that variable
null is an assignment value. It can be assigned to a variable as a representation of no value.

undefined is a type itself (undefined) while null is an object.
Unassigned variables are initialized by JavaScript with a default value of undefined.

WHERE clauses :

In a WHERE clause, the various operators used directly affect how fast a query can run. Here are the conditional operators used in the WHERE clause, ordered by their performance. =, >, <, >=, <=, <>, !=, !>, !<.
Avoid necessary where clause and mulitiple "AND" and "OR" clause. For example see below example :
SELECT name FROM employee WHERE LOWER(name) = 'ab'

Avoid DISTINCT and ORDER BY :
- If no need then avoid using distinct and orderby clause in your query cause it causes extra load on database engine.
CAST and CONVERT :
- Try to use CAST instead of CONVERT. CAST is ANSI-92 standard but CONVERT works in MS SQL server only. Also, Convert may be deprecated in future MS SQL releases.
- It is better to use CONVERT only when you need to format the DATETIME datatype with the style option. CAST can not do this.
Avoid using cursors :
- Try to use temporary table or table variables with identity column and then iterate all the tables using WHILE loop and a looping counter, which will map with the identity column.

Dynamic Queries :

Do not use dynamic queries as much as possible because it compile the query everytime.
If you use the simple sql query then it compiles only once bt dynamic query recompiles everytime.

Procedure Name Fully Qualified :

Use the fully qualified name when you are calling stored procedures. This would be the format database_name.schema_name.table_name. For example, use EXEC master.dbo.Your_Proc_name instead of EXEC Your_Proc_name.

Also try to use the schema name when you create a procedure. Like: CREATE PROCEDURE dbo.Your_Proc_name instead of CREATE PROCEDURE Your_Proc_name

sp_ Prefix :

Dont use the "sp_" prefix in store procedure or anywhere cause it is a predefined format reseverd for system procedures.
If by mistak name of store procedure will be same then it finds this procedure in system database and also in your database.So your database procedure never will be executed.

sp_executeSQL :

It avoids recompilation of store procedure.
If you use dynamic query then it is very useful to you cause it stores procedures with the variable in cache.
When you pass parameter you will get result without recompilation of store procedure.

KEEPFIXED PLAN options :

It also avoids recompilation of store procedure.
Use this keyword "KEEPFIXED PLAN" for getting result from temporary tables.
If your query contains this hint then your store procedure will not be recompiled.

SET NOCOUNT OFF :

This returns the message that shows number of rows affected by SQL statement. This can cause extra network traffic and can have some serious impact on performance when the procedure is called frequently.

SELECT vs SET :

A single SELECT statement can assign values to different variables and is much faster than multiple SET statements assigning values to multiple different variables.
SELECT @Var1 = @Var1 + 1, @Var2 = @Var2 - 1

First create the window application then add the setup project from add>other project type> setup and deployment > setup project.

Go to setup project > view > file system.
It shows three folder. Choose application folder > Right Click > Add > project output and choose your application.

Build the setup and get exe in your specified folder.

Run the setup.exe and then go to your specified folder where your project exe resides and run it.

So instead of writing again and again username nd password I have save the password.

To view or remove it do the following steps :

If you get error like this that 2 assemblies exists in same path then go to the specified path

c:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\

and delete ur project.

Because this is all temporary files and restart ur visual studio.

Take a image tag in ur databound control like gridview,datalist.

If you take asp image tag then set path like bellow

ImageURL = ImageTest(DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "sLogo") in asp tags.

Here ImageTest is a function in which you can give your imageurl. For example view the following :-

If you got error like this then go to this perticular directory and search the file without extension and you will get the same file with extension .delete change it and rename it with .dll.

Your problem will be solved.

Debugg the store procedure in sql server 2005

1. Find the .exe file under the directory, C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Shared\1033\rdbgsetup.exe or similar path where the SQL Server was installed. The file rdbgsetup.exe stands for 'RemoteDeBuGsetup'. Look for the emphasis on letters. The filename reads rdbgsetup because, we are going to debug a stored procedures of a database available in some remote physical server. Either we need to sit at the server and debug them or we should be in a position to debug the stored procedure remotely. This action should be performed on the physical server where SQL Server 2005 was installed.

2. The user who debugs the stored procedure should be a member of SQL Server's fixed Server role, SysAdmin.

As a DBA, I may need to grant this privilege to the user who is in need of debugging a stored procedure. When I do that, I should trust the user so that he/she will not mess-up anything on the Server. Ok, I believe my users are trust worthy and I issue the following T-SQL command to assigning a fixer server role, SysAdmin.

The command to do so is as follows

EXEC master..sp_addsrvrolemember @loginame = N'&amp;amp;lt;YourLoginName either SQL Server Authentication or Windows Authentication&amp;amp;gt;', @rolename = N'sysadmin'

This can however be accomplished with SQL Server Management Studio's IDE. Perhaps, I prefer using T-SQL commands.

Note: The parameters to the stored procedure, sp_addsrvrolemember are of type, Nvarchar and it stands for (National Variable Character), which usually holds Unicode characters.

Now, we are all set for debugging stored procedures.

Process to Debug a stored procedure

1. Open the Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 IDE.

2. Select Server Explorer option from the View Menu as follows:

3. From the Data Connections node, right click and select, 'Add connection'. Fill in the details to connect to the intended SQL Server and the database using the login who has a fixed server role, SysAdmin. Click on Test connection. Once the connection succeeds, the overall screen should look like the following.

4. Expand the data connection just added, and navigate to the Stored Procedures node.

5. Expand the Stored Procedures node and select the intended SP to be debugged.

6. Right click and select open to view the source code of the selected stored procedure.

7. Place a break point on the intended line of code where debugging needs to be started its usually the way .NET Developers perform.

8. After performing the above steps the screen shot should look like the following.

10. Right click on the stored procedure from the 'Server Explorer' and select 'Step-Into Stored Procedure' as shown below.

11. This action brings up the following screen shot.

12. Enter the needful values and click Ok. The next shot will be the following.

13. From here on, its usual .NET debugging stuff. Use Step-Into and Step-Over and Step-out from the shortcuts menu or pressing F11,F10, Shift+F11

Wasn't that very simple. It made the life of DB developers much more comfortable. Had it not been available with SQL Server 2005 and VS 2005 IDE it would have been a nightmare to debug stored procedures remotely/locally.
